Cristina’s Story
In 2006, Cristina Bernal (then Cristina Ballestero) signed to Universal Blackground Records in a girl group, "L.A.X. Gurlz". The dance-pop group’s music video for, "Forget You" premiered on MTV's TRL's "First-Look". The single got plays on Radio Disney, and other big stations such as B96 in Chicago and Z100 in New York. It was ranked #98 on Billboard's 100 Greatest Girl Group Songs of All Time, and was the most requested song on Radio Disney in ‘06. They performed and toured until the group disbanded in 2009.
Cristina then wrote, produced and distributed her own music with her own independent team. Including some collaborations with other artists as well as her 2021 single “T H A N K F U L” which features elements of Destiny’s Child, JoJo, Timberlake, and Ariana.
Pop and Worship
Growing up in the music industry Cristina always knew she wanted to do something big with her gifts and talents. After leaving what would have been her second record deal in 2011, Cristina got involved in leading worship for her young adult community. From there she knew she had a calling to serve the Lord with her gifts and talents. Along with writing and releasing pop music she has served in the worship community since. She has traveled around the United States leading worship for conferences, retreats, parish missions, as well as locally at her home parish.
Cristina signed with Catholic Christian Record label NOVUM RECORDS in July of 2022. She has released a Mass Setting Album and is working on another Album of Worship Music for Mass.
Marriage and Family
Cristina married Daniel “DJ” Bernal in March of 2022. They have two sons. Originally from Anaheim California, Cristina lives with her husband and their sons Antonio Rafael and Santiago Gabriel in San Antonio, Texas. She currently writes, records and leads worship music as well as travels doing ministry preaching and leading worship.
